Martin is a composer, choir leader and teacher living near Eccleshall, Staffordshire. He is musical director of two large community choirs, Broughton Community Choir and Ashton Sings, acapella group The Pebbles and saxophone quartet Gratuitous Sax. He is also guest conductor and adviser to Bishop Lonsdale School Choir and regularly puts together ad-hoc instrumental and singing groups for concerts.
Through his dealings with these groups and as an instrumental teacher (mainly teaching piano) he has extensive experience of composing and arranging music. In 2015 he teamed up with poet and lyricist Shân Jones (no relation) to form Jones and Jones music.
Shân Jones is a poet and lyricist, teacher, daughter, sister, wife and mother to four children. She works regularly with young people nurturing their confidence in self-expression and creative thought, and in 2012 developed the highly regarded “I’ve Got Something to Say” programme for primary schools which uses the writing of original poetry to encourage children to express themselves.
Her lyric writing is under-pinned by a lifetime’s experience of singing in choirs, across a range of settings from the CBSO Chorus to local acapella group The Pebbles.
In 2015 she joined forces with local musician and choirmaster Martin Jones (no relation) to form Jones and Jones music.
